APAMSA/SNMA Bone Marrow Registry Drive

Last week, APAMSA and SNMA joined forces to hold a Bone Marrow Registry Drive on the Duke undergrad campus. APAMSA and SNMA took a special interest in this project because of the increased need for donors from certain racial or ethnic groups which are under-represented in the registry. Since patients are more likely to find a matching donor from the same racial or ethnic group, donors who identify themselves as Black or African-American, American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian, Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Latino, or multiple races are needed. Last week's drive was a great success! In just 2 hours, we registered 33 people: 13 Caucasians, 8 Asians, 11 Black or African Americans, 1 multiple races. Thanks to everyone who volunteered that day, and thanks to everyone who registered!
